Cambodia, Russia Discuss Preferential Treatment for 3,000 Cambodian Products

Cambodian Secretary of State for Commerce H.E. Ms. TekrethKamrang held talks here yesterday with H.E. Dmitry Tsvetkov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Cambodia, on the economic cooperation, especially on the preferential treatment for 3,000 Cambodian products.

According to the Ministry of Commerce's news release, H.E. Ms. TekrethKamrang called for the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC)'s technical team to visit Cambodia to examine the challenges, processes and necessary requirements as well as to share practical experience on the accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

In order to boost the trade volume and investment between the two countries, the Cambodian secretary of state suggested the Russian side to consider importing garment products, particularly winter coats, agricultural products including rice, sugar and rubber in response to the agreement on Economic and Trade Relation, which Russia promised to import over 3.000 products from Cambodia under the zero tariff theme. Moreover, with the support of the Russian ambassador, she invited Russian investors to Cambodia for economic and trade cooperation.

For his part, H.E. Dmitry Tsvetkov strongly supported the above request to bring the EEC's supporting team to provide consultation and presentation on the above topics and asked the Ministry of Commerce to send an official request for support to the Russian Government through the Cambodian Embassy in Moscow.

Besides, H.E. Ambassador urged Cambodia to identify the focal point for facilitating with Russian investors who will be looking for investment opportunities in Cambodia.
