Cambodia Seeks Canada’s Continued Support for NPMEC

Cambodia has asked the Government of Canada to continue supporting the National Centre for Peacekeeping Forces, Mines and Explosive Remnants of War Clearance (NPMEC) and training its human resources.

The request was made here on June 29 by H.E. Gen. Sem Sovanny, Director General of NPMEC, while holding talks with H.E. Ms. Vicky Singmin, Chargé d’Affaires of Mission of Canada to ASEAN and H.E. Jan Scazighino, Chargé d`Affaires, Office of the Embassy of Canada in Phnom Penh.

H.E. Ms. Vicky Singmin spoke highly of Cambodian peacekeepers and pledged to bring Cambodia’s request to her government.

Earlier on the same day, H.E. Gen. Sem Sovanny received Brigadier General Arthur Davout d’Auerstedt, Head of Peacekeeping Operation Project of the French Cooperation and Defence Mission of the French Embassy in Cambodia and an Advisor to NPMEC, and conferred upon him a high decoration of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

The conferment is in recognition of Brigadier General Arthur Davout d’Auerstedt’s efforts in assisting the NPMEC and strengthening the cooperation between the two countries.
