Cambodia Speaks Highly of WFP’s Contribution to its Development

Cambodia highly appreciates the contribution of the World Food Programme (WFP) in the reconstruction and development of the country since the collapse of the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime.

The remarks were made by Senior Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance H.E. Aun Pornmoniroth during a farewell meeting here on Tuesday with outgoing Country Representative of WFP Ms. Nancy Walters.

The WFP's key contribution reflects the organisation's commitment for capacity building of Cambodian human resources through Food Safety and Nutrition Project, added H.E. Senior Minister, stressing the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC)'s attention to social protection and education.

For her part, Ms. Nancy Walters lauded the RGC's successful endeavors through macro-economic stability with high economic growth which can be considered as a model country.

The outgoing WFP country representative took the opportunity to thank all ministries and institutions, basically Ministry of Economy and Finance for its cooperation with WFP so far, adding that even though her term comes to an end, WFP will continue working with Cambodia under the Country Programme 2018-2021. She also unveiled the elaboration of WFP Cambodia Country Strategic Plan 2019-2023.

H.E. Minister also wished Ms. Nancy Walters success in her new role and affirmed the ministry's readiness to cooperate with her successor.
