Cambodia Supports Closer Economic Tie between ASEAN and Eurasian Economic Union

Cambodia has expressed her firm support for closer economic connection between ASEAN and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

The commitment was made by Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia, while holding bilateral talks with H.E. Nurlan Nigmatulin, Chairman of Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, in Nur-Sultan city, Kazakhstan on Sept. 23, on the sidelines of the 4th Meeting of Speakers of the Eurasian Countries' Parliaments (MSEAP-4).

The NA president underlined his support for all initiatives of Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan to boost cooperation in parliamentary diplomacy with Eurasian countries for closer integration, highlighting the potential of Cambodia and Kazakhstan to achieve the said move.

On the occasion, Samdech Heng Samrin praised the development and progress of Kazakhstan, and was optimistic about cooperation in politics, diplomacy, economy, trade, investment, tourism and culture of both countries.

Samdech Heng Samrin also invited his Kazakhstan counterpart to attend the 11th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting (ASEP-11) to be hosted by Cambodia in 2020.

For his side, H.E. Nurlan Nigmatulin thanked Samdech Heng Samrin for attending MSEAP-4, stressing that his participation would contribute to the success of MSEAP-4.

The chairman of Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan also confirmed his participation in the coming ASEP-11.
