Cambodia Supports Sweden’s Candidacy as Non-Permanent Member of UN Security Council

Cambodian Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn has affirmed the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC)'s support to Sweden's candidacy as a Non-permanent Member of the United Nations Security Council for 2017-2018.

H.E. Senior Minister made the affirmation during a farewell meeting with outgoing Swedish Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Ms. Anna Maj Hultgard at the ministry office, Phnom Penh on June 28, H.E. Chum Sounry, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, told reporters after the meeting.

On the occasion, H.E. Prak Sokhonn highly appreciated relationship between the two countries as well as Sweden's assistance to Cambodia which started in early 1980s, a time when Cambodia was under the economic embargo of the West.

The Cambodian top diplomat also thanked H.E. Ms. Anna Maj Hultgard for her active efforts in strengthening and expanding the cooperation between both nations in all sectors during her diplomatic mission in Cambodia.

For her part, H.E. Ms. Anna Maj Hultgard spoke highly of the potential and strong economic development of Cambodia, and pledged to further promote the business relations between Sweden and Cambodia.
