Cambodia Supports the UN’s “Future of Work” Initiative

The Royal Government of Cambodia has voiced its support for the Future of Work Initiative of the UN to address the challenges of technological developments.

This support was stressed by H.E. Ith Samheng, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training at the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) within the UN General Assembly on April 10 in New York, according to the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training’s news release.

H.E. Ith Samheng said Cambodia would cooperate with the ILO to continue its mission in the new context of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

“As we are entering the second decade of promoting social justice and decent work for all, Cambodia supports the Future of Work Initiative, a common key for the Member States and development partners to pay attention to so as to prepare themselves for challenges, especially the change in skills arising from technological evolution,” he said.

On Mar. 28, 2019, Cambodia signed with the ILO and other partners a memorandum of understanding to further carry out Decent Work Country Programme from 2019 to 2023.
