Cambodia To Buy Fresh Water from Thailand for Koh Kong Province

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has given a green light to LYP Group to construct a water pipeline with Thailand to get fresh water to support the people in Koh Kong, a coastal province of Cambodia.

At a gathering with nearly 14,000 workers and employees from seven factories and enterprises in Koh Kong province this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said Koh Kong's residents are facing with fresh water shortage, therefore LYP Group was authorised to construct water pipeline and reservoir to bring fresh water from Trat province of Thailand.

The Cambodian Premier urged the company and the provincial authorities to do their best to provide fresh water for the local residents on time.

Cambodia is currently facing drought and according to the forecast of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, the dry season would continue until mid-May while the high temperature would go on until early June.

In January 2019, the Royal Government issued a circular on measures against water shortage issue in the country.
