Cambodia To Continue Supporting and Strengthening Garment and Textile Industry

The Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) will continue to support and treat garment and textile industry as a potential sector for economic development and poverty alleviation.

Cambodian Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak made the remarks while meeting with major clothing companies like H&M, C&A, Adidas Sourcing, Next Sourcing, and VF Corporation�which represent 30 percent of buyers of Cambodia’s garment and textile industry�in Hong Kong recently, according to a news release of the Ministry of Commerce.

On the occasion, H.E. Pan Sorasak highlighted the RGC’s Rectangular Strategy, Phase IV, investment protection policy, business opportunities, new reforms, etc. as a means to strengthen the country’s competitive advantages in the region.

Garment and textile industry employs currently over 850,000 labour forces in 1,585 factories across the country. In 2018, the exports of Cambodian textile, garment and footwear products to international markets were valued at more than US$10 billion, a year-on-year increase of 27 percent.
