Cambodia to Create ID Code for Each Citizen

The Royal Government of Cambodia is planning to create ID code for each citizen in 2019, according to a senior government official.

Speaking at the launch of National Strategic Plan of Identification 2017-2026, Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, said the above-said plan would cost around US$50 million.

"All citizens need to remember their own ID code like those in other countries," he underlined. "Each citizen has to use only a code."

Cambodia has so far received support from the United Nations and some countries in creating code for her citizens, Samdech Sar Kheng said.
