Cambodia to Have 26 Million Doses of COVID-19 Vaccines

AKP Phnom Penh, Cambodia is expected to get in total some 26 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines by mid-August through purchases and donations, said H.E. Dr. Yuok Sambath, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health this morning.

While welcoming the arrival of 1 million doses of Sinovac vaccine Cambodia bought from China at Phnom Penh International Airport, the secretary of state pointed out that with the 26 million doses, Cambodia will achieve its goal of vaccinating 13 million people or over 80 percent of the total population of 16 million.

If nothing changes, she continued, 415,000 doses of AstraZeneca donated by UK will arrive Cambodia next week on Aug. 3 or 4.

Along with the newly-arrived one million doses of Sinovac, Cambodia also received some 300,000 rapid antigen test kits donated by China.

Cambodia has now nearly 19 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines in stock through purchases and donations: 6.2 million doses of Sinopharm, 11.5 million doses of Sinovac, 656,000 doses of AstraZeneca, and 455,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson.

As of yesterday, 7,233,247 adult people have got their first jab, or 72.33 percent of the planned 10 million people for the vaccination, among them 4,729,605 have been fully vaccinated.

Tomorrow, Cambodia is going to launch the vaccination campaign of children aged from 12 to 17 under the presidency of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.
