Cambodia to Have 3 More Courts of Appeal Next Year

Ministry of Justice is establishing three regional courts of appeal expected to be ready to serve the public in upcoming 2020.

The update was shared by H.E. Chin Malin, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Justice in a press conference on one-year achievement after national election here in Phnom Penh yesterday, adding that those regional courts of appeal, once done, will increase the number of such court to four in Cambodia.

The three regional courts of appeal, continued H.E. Chin Malin, have completed 80 percent of their construction now, and they are located in provinces of Thbong Khmum, Battambang and Preah Sihanouk.

Beside the construction of regional courts of appeals, the ministry has planned to establish specialised courts, including business and labour ones continued the spokesperson.

He added that Cambodia has only criminal and civil courts, so the ministry is studying the establishment of the business and labour courts and they will be ready for service in a near future.

Cambodia currently has 24 capital and provincial courts, and the establishment of the last provincial court in Kep is on its to-do list.
