Cambodia To Host 2nd Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Leaders’ Meeting in Early January

AKP Phnom Penh, Cambodia is going to host and co-chair the Second Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Leaders’ Meeting in Phnom Penh on Jan. 10, 2018.

According to the press release on the outcomes of the Third Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in Dali, China’s Yunnan province, from Dec. 14 to 16 issued this morning by the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the upcoming summit will take place under the theme Our River of Peace and Sustainable Development.

In the meeting, Cambodian Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn expressed appreciation to all Mekong-Lancang Cooperation member countries for their close cooperation and strong support towards the success and positive outcomes of the upcoming 2nd Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Leaders’ Meeting, pointed out the same source.

On the sidelines of the meeting, it added, the Cambodian top diplomat had a bilateral talk with his Chinese counterpart H.E. Wang Yi, during which they exchanged views on ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation ahead of both countries celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations next year.

The First Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Leaders’ Meeting was convened in China’s Sanya city in March last year and attended by Chinese Premier H.E. Li Keqiang and his counterparts from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
