Cambodia To Host Global Youth Summit 2017 This Afternoon

The Actions For Earth - Global Youth Summit 2017, themed "Take Action for Earth, Waste Not", will kick off this afternoon at the Ministry of Environment, Phnom Penh, according to a press release AKP received yesterday.

The official launch will be presided over by H.E. Say Samal, Minister of Environment of Cambodia, with the participation of more than 300 honored guests and young delegates from Cambodia, Australia, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, China and Philippines, as well as speakers, and youth facilitators from Cambodia and Singapore.

This international event, to last until Jan. 15, will begin with environmental talks and presentations on Climate Change and Waste Management by Cambodian speakers and presentation by past winners on their projects with a flag off ceremony by H.E. Say Samal.

"We are very excited to have the summit hosted in Phnom Penh, the capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Asia new Tiger Economy," said Ms. Ann Phua, President and Founder, Hemispheres Foundation.

Beside presentations and workshops, young delegates will have the chance to conduct site visits to Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority, to learn how Cambodia has made progress in managing its clean water, and thereafter to outreach for the community to 'Live Green' at Borey Sopheak Mongkol. After that, they will present their projects to the audience and a panel of distinguished judges from Singapore, Australia and Cambodia. Scholarship Prizes funded by Hemispheres Foundation will be awarded to top 3 winners to kickstart the projects in their home countries.

Actions For Earth - Global Youth Summit 2017 is organised by Hemispheres Foundation, a Singapore-based non-profit social enterprise and the Department of Environment Education, Ministry of Environment Cambodia under the support of the Royal University of Phnom Penh, Singapore GreenSeeds Fund, Singapore Building and Construction Authority, Singapore Keppel Land, Angkor Foundation and WWF-Cambodia.
