Cambodia To Mark International Children’s Book Day 2017 Tomorrow

The International Children’s Book Day, the fifth of its kind, will be celebrated at the garden of Chaktomuk Theatre, Phnom Penh on Mar. 25 in order to build the habit of reading among children and to promote reading.

Organised by the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) in cooperation with Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS) and Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, the event is themed “Wild Animals”.

Ms. Huot Socheata of the IBBY Cambodia told a recent press conference that the theme was chosen for this year’s celebration because the issues of wild animals and environment are the current hot topic.

H.E. Ms. Ton Sa Im, Under Secretary of State for MoEYS, said that the ministry has so far collaborated with Printing Houses or organisations that are interested in writing books for children, and whose work helps develop children’s spirit.
