Cambodia To Review Next Year’s Public Holiday List

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen said the Royal Government of Cambodia will review the list of national public holidays for next year.

Addressing here this morning to the graduation ceremony of almost 2,000 new graduates of the National Institute of Education, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the number of public holidays in Cambodia is higher than that in some countries, therefore the list will be reviewed.

The Premier affirmed that next year, Cambodia will reduce its public holidays while some foreign businessmen shared their concerns over this issue.

According to Samdech Techo Hun Sen, this is a sensitive issue. He therefore called for tolerance from the public and other concerned parties, adding that no precise decision has been made so far.

Currently, Cambodia has around 30 public holidays a year, thus ranking Cambodia the second Southeast Asian country with the highest number of public holidays after Malaysia (50 days), and before Thailand (26 days).
