Cambodia Unveils 4 Potential Sports for ASEAN Para Games

Toward the kick-off of the 12th ASEAN Para Games on June 3, Cambodia has high hope for four sports potentially win gold medals from the games.

H.E. Yi Veasna, Secretary General of the National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia and Deputy Secretary General of the National Organising Committee of the 12th ASEAN Para Games told AKP after the opening of Main Press Centre (MPC) and International Broadcasting Centre (IBC) for the games at Morodok Techo National Stadium this morning.

The four sport disciplines are Athletics, Swimming, Sitting Volleyball, and Wheelchair Basketball, he said.

According to H.E. Yi Veasna, Cambodia is working hard with high responsibility to ensure warm hospitality for all participating sports contingents who have already arrived Cambodia and smooth para games.

The flags of the eleven participating countries in the 12th ASEAN Para Games were officially hoisted on June 2 at the Morodok Techo National Stadium under the auspices of H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, President of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOC) and Permanent Vice President of Cambodian SEA Games-ASEAN Para Games Organisinig Committees (CAMSOC-CAMAPGOC), and H.E. Hun Many, President of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC).

The games to happen from June 3 to 9 will accommodate 14 types of sports: Athletics, Badminton, Boccia, Chess, 5-a-side Football, 7-a-side Football, Goalball, Judo, Powerlifting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Siting Volleyball, Wheelchairs Basketball, and E-sports (Demonstration).
