Cambodia Welcomes 600,000 Tourists during Chinese New Year Celebration

Different tourist destinations in Cambodia attracted in total more than 600,000 local and foreign visitors during the Chinese Lunar New Year late last week, according to the Ministry of Tourism’s news release.

Among them, there were some 530,000 local tourists and 70,000 foreign visitors, up some 9 percent and 20 percent, respectively compared to the same period last year, it added.

Most of them visited the provinces of Siem Reap, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kandal, Kep, Battambang, Kampong Cham and Rattanakiri, and Phnom Penh capital.

Cambodia currently has 1,429 tourist attractions, of which only 335 sites have licenses. There are a total of 647 hotels of 36,236 rooms, 1,996 guesthouses of 28,885 rooms, 688 adult entertainment centres, and 1,844 restaurants across the Kingdom.

Besides, Cambodia has also 588 tour agencies, 32 tourism sports sites, and 5,088 tour guides.
