Cambodia has been recognised as the Asia’s Leading Culture Destination 2022 and Asia’s Leading Youth Travel Destination 2022 by the World Travel Awards.
The award conferment ceremony was organised at the International Travel Expo (ITE) HCMC 2022 in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam on Sept. 7.
Cambodia has been selected through votes from over two million tourists across the world, according to H.E. Thong Rathasak, Director General of Tourism Development and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Tourism, who represented the Royal Government and people of Cambodia to receive the awards at the ITE HCMC 2022.
Thanks to the Royal Government’s different strategies and policies for post-COVID-19 tourism recovery, the number of international tourists in Cambodia has increased sharply by 580 percent to nearly 1 million during the first eight months of 2022, he emphasised.
The director general was also positive that through the Roadmap for Recovery of Cambodia Tourism During and Post COVID-19 for 2020-2025, “Visit Cambodia 2023” campaign and the ITE HCMC 2022, more international tourists and investors, including the Vietnamese, will come to Cambodia.
