Phnom Penh: Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly, met with Hon. Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Johari bin Abdul, Speaker of Malaysia’s House of Representatives, on March 25 at the National Assembly Palace. The meeting focused on enhancing the cooperation and ties between the two nations’ legislative bodies.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Khuon Sudary highlighted the strong friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and Malaysia, noting the significance of people-to-people ties. She also mentioned the symbolic gesture of solidarity demonstrated by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, who hosted an Iftar dinner on Monday. The event underscored the unity between Muslim and non-Muslim communities in Cambodia and beyond.
Tan Sri Dato’ Johari expressed his congratulations to Cambodia for organizing the dinner, which attracted over 6,000 participants from diverse backgrounds. He shared that many attendees traveled long distances to meet the Prime Minister, whom they regard as an inspiring young leader.
The Malaysian Speaker commended Cambodia’s leadership and resilience, emphasizing the importance of coexistence and freedom among its people. He underscored the necessity for continued collaboration and exchange of ideas among parliamentarians, particularly in training young leaders and addressing misunderstandings promptly to secure a prosperous future.
Tan Sri Dato’ Johari also remarked on ASEAN’s strength, attributing its success to the hardworking individuals within the region, even as other parts of the world face significant challenges.
