Cambodian Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak held separate talks yesterday with Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) H.E. Roberto Azevedo and Dr. Ratanaka Adhikari, Executive Director at Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF) Secretariat, during his stay in Nairobi, Kenya.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, the meeting with the WTO director-general mainly focused on the technical advisory assistance provided by WTO to review Cambodia's trade policies, develop capacities to formulate trade policies and on challenges in establishing bilateral free trade area that may have negative impact on Cambodia.
In the talk with the EIF executive director, the EIF side requested Cambodia to share experience on her success in carrying out the Enhanced Integrated Framework to other nations, and sought Cambodia's permission to use her Silk Project as an example of good practice story in WTO forums.
Following on the same day, H.E. Pan Sorasak attended a forum discussion as a speaker together with the foreign minister of Argentina and the UNCTAD secretary-general on Sustainable Development Goals Implementation.
On the occasion, H.E. Minister laid stress on Cambodia's experience, opportunities and challenges faced in the implementation.
