Cambodian Commerce Minister Meets German Ambassador

Cambodian Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak held talk here yesterday with H.E. Joachim Baron von Marschall, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Kingdom of Cambodia.

According to the Ministry of Commerce’s news release, in the meeting, H.E. Pan Sorasak expressed thanks to the German government for its continued technical assistance to Cambodia through GIZ.

For his part, the German ambassador said Germany will continue to support a number of assistance programs, particularly the development of vocation and the provision of vocational training.

H.E. Pan Sorasak welcomed this kind of assistance, saying that it would certainly benefit the Cambodian workforce.

Vocation training is important, not just for the Cambodian market, but also in ASEAN as the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) can provide opportunity for Cambodian workforce to compete in the skilled labor market of ASEAN countries, he added.

The minister also urged for more German investment, especially in the SME sector and requested for more scholarships for Cambodian students to study in Germany.
