Senior officials of the Ministry of Environment and Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) discussed here yesterday an environmental protection project in Tonle Sap Great Lake.

According to the ministry's news release, the Climate-Smart Tonle Sap Project is the key agenda of the meeting between H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Under Secretary of State for Environment and Mr. Alexandre Huynh, Representative of FAO in Cambodia.

This project will help strengthen the ability of farmers in the targeted area to adapt to climate change, provide new knowledge and techniques for smart agro-farming, and assist farmers in preparing community-based agricultural and infrastructural policy.

In the meeting, H.E. Eang Sophalleth expressed his support to this project, hoping that it will further build the local farmers' climate-resilience and adaptive capacity.
