Cambodian FM Receives New UN Women Country Representative to Cambodia

Cambodian Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. PrakSokhonn received here yesterday Ms. Janet Wong, newly-appointed UN Women Country Representative to Cambodia.

During the meeting, H.E. PrakSokhonn highly valued UN for its assistances through its representative office in Cambodia and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to Cambodia's development in all sectors, especially in promoting women rights, H.E. Chum Sounry, Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, told reporters after the meeting.

H.E. Senior Minister informed Ms. Janet Wong of the Royal Government of Cambodia's key policies in women affairs such as gender equity promotion in Cambodia, women empowerment enhancement and women violence prevention.

H.E. PrakSokhonn underlined the ministry's commitments to strengthen the cooperation with UN Women and facilitate this body to work together with concerned institutions in order to successfully implement their tasks in Cambodia.

For her part, Ms. Janet lauded the RGC's efforts and achievements in women affairs and pledged to continue making cooperation with the RGC and relevant partners, especially Cambodia's Ministry of Women Affairs in enhancing and empowering Cambodian women.
