Cambodian Foreign Minister Leaves for 3rd LMC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in China

AKP Phnom Penh, Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia H.E. Prak Sokhonn departed here yesterday for China to attend and co-chair the 3rd Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Foreign Ministers' Meeting, taking place from Dec. 14 to 16 in Dali, Yunnan province.

According to a recent press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the 3rd LMC Foreign Ministers' Meeting will provide a good opportunity to further promote and strengthen the mechanism and cooperation in the framework of the Mekong-Lancang and to discuss the preparation for the 2nd LMC Leaders' Meeting to be held in Cambodia in January 2018.

The Meeting is expected to adopt many important documents, including the Joint Press Communique of the 3rd LMC Foreign Ministers' Meeting; list of the projects supported by LMC Special Fund in 2017; and hotline platform of LMC National Secretariats and Coordination Units.

In the framework of the Meeting, H.E. Prak Sokhonn will attend the photo exhibition of the LMC achievements and the launch of the official website of the LMC China Secretariat and, together with his Chinese counterpart H.E. Wang Yi, will hold a Joint Press Conference by the Co-Chairs.

LMC framework was established at the 1st LMC Foreign Ministers' Meeting in November 2015 in Jinghong, Yunnan province, China, based on the principles of consensus, openness, inclusiveness, equality, mutual consultation and coordination, voluntarism, common contribution and shared benefits, and respect for the UN charter and international laws.
