Cambodian Foreign Minister Meets Mexican Ambassador

Cambodian Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn received here yesterday Ms. Sara Valdes Bolano, Ambassador of Mexico to Cambodia.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Prak Sokhonn expressed warm welcome to the visit of H.E. Ms. Sara Valdes Bolano and hoped that she will actively contribute to strengthening and expanding the bilateral relations between the two countries.

The senior minister also recalled the visit to Mexico by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen in 2012 and that by National Assembly President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin in 2014, and congratulated the Mexico's cultural fair in Phnom Penh, taking place from July 5 to 31, 2016.

For her part, H.E. Ms. Sara Valdes Bolano handed over the congratulatory letter of H.E. Ms. Claudia Ruiz Massieu, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, to H.E. Prak Sokhonn on his appointment as new Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia.

The Hanoi-based Mexican ambassador said Mexico is willing to open a honorary consulate in Phnom Penh, sign an agreement on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and official passports with Cambodia, and establish the cultural cooperation between the Institute of Anthropology and History of Mexico and the APSARA National Authority of Cambodia.

At the same time, H.E. Ms. Sara Valdes Bolano expressed Mexico's welcome to the participation of Cambodia's Ministry of Environment in the 13th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, to be held in Cancun, Mexico in December this year.

H.E. Prak Sokhonn welcomed Mexico's intention to promote the bilateral cooperation between both nations.
