Cambodian Foreign Minister Meets New Portuguese Ambassador

Cambodian Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn met here on Jan. 19 with H.E. Francisco Vaz Patto, newly-appointed Ambassador of Portugal to Cambodia, to strengthen and expand the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

On the occasion, H.E. Francisco Vaz Patto informed H.E. Prak Sokhonn that Portugal opened a trade office at her Embassy based in Thailand, indicating that this office will help provide opportunities to increase the trade and economic exchange between Cambodia and Portugal, Mr. Chum Sounry, Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, told reports after the meeting.

For his part, H.E. Prak Sokhonn highly valued the long-lasting relations and cooperation in all domains between the two countries.

H.E. Minister congratulated the trade office's establishment, and asked the Portuguese side to help boost the economic and trade ties between both countries, as well as to encourage Portuguese investors and visitors to Cambodia.

Both sides also discussed the signing of MoU on the creation of consultative group between the two nations' Ministries of Foreign Affairs, not only to discuss the political, but also all sectors between Cambodia and Portugal. Moreover, they agreed to set up a business forum in order to contribute to both countries' economic development.
