Cambodian Foreign Minister Requests OHCHR to Respect Cambodia’s Sovereignty

Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn requested the OHCHR (Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights) to respect Cambodia’s sovereignty and successfully carry out the MoU signed recently between the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) and OHCHR.

The Cambodian top diplomat made the requests while receiving Ms. Wan-Hea Lee, OHCHR Country Representative for Cambodia, at the ministry office on Feb. 14, said H.E. Chum Sounry, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFA-IC).

In reply, Ms. Wan-Hea Lee reaffirmed the OHCHR’s commitment to strengthen relations with the government ministries and institutions and considered this year a starting point of reinforcement of cooperation between OHCHR and the RGC in order to build mutual trust.

H.E. Prak Sokhonn agreed with Ms. Wan-Hea Lee’s suggestion to have regular meetings between both sides, and informed her of the preparations for the meeting between the RGC and OHCHR early this year.
