Cambodian Minister of Agriculture Receives CEO of ACIAR

Cambodia's Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries H.E. Veng Sakhon received here this morning Mr. Andrew Campbell, CEO of the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR).

According to a news release of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF), the meeting touched especially on the elaboration of long-term strategic plan for agricultural development in Cambodia.

H.E. Veng Sakhon said that researches on low-cost agricultural production, agricultural diversification, animal production and health, climate change resilience, enhancement of women's role in agricultural sector, and so on are needed for the elaboration of the above-said strategic plan.

With ACIAR's research, Mr. Andrew Campbell is convinced that MAFF will get more information and key inputs for the elaboration of the long-term strategic plan for agricultural development.

H.E. Veng Sakhon requested the Australian government to continue supporting the capacity building of MAFF's officials through scholarship provision.
