Cambodian Minister of Commerce Holds Talks with Thai Counterpart on CLMVT Forum

The Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia organised here yesterday a consultative meeting on the organisation of Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam-Thailand Forum (CLMVT Forum).

This meeting was chaired by H.E. Pan Sorasak, Cambodian Minister of Commerce and his visiting Thai counterpart H.E. Mrs. Apiradi Tantraporn.

According to the ministry's news release, in the meeting, the two parties agreed to defer the organisation of the CLMVT Forum to early next year, 2018.

On the occasion, H.E. Pan Sorasak recalled the 6th Joint Thailand-Cambodia Committee (JTC) in March 2017 in Phnom Penh, which was concluded only at technical level, but has not been endorsed at ministerial level yet, therefore he requested Thai counterpart to organise the 6th JTC meeting at ministerial level back to back to the CMVT Forum in 2018 for the adoption of SOM's report and records of the meetings.

In response to the Cambodian side's request, the Thai side will organise and coordinate a study visit, to allow Cambodian officials to explore, and obtain more experience and knowledge in relation to the operation and mechanism for the management and development of Halal food processing sector in Cambodia.
