Cambodian NA Approves Draft Law on ASEAN-India Agreement on Trade in Services

The draft law on approval of Agreement on Trade in Services under the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Economic Cooperation between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the Republic of India was endorsed yesterday by the National Assembly of Cambodia in its 9th session of 5th legislature.

A total of 113 lawmakers present at the session held under the presidency of Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of NA, voted for the draft law.

Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak represented the royal government to defend the draft law.

According to the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce, Agreement on Trade in Services under the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Economic Cooperation between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the Republic of India aims to strengthen cooperation and globalise trade in services between ASEAN and India for the improvement of effectiveness and competitiveness as well as to diversify service supply in ASEAN-India region.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations comprises ten members: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
