Cambodian PM Calls for More Tree Planting and Forest Conservation

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen of the Kingdom of Cambodia has appealed to all his compatriots to love and take part in planting more trees as well as to protect forests and natural environment.

The Premier made the appeal on his official Facebook page this morning on the occasion of the Arbour Day celebrated in Kratie province under the royal presidency of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia.

The Arbour Day was first established in 1952 under the leadership of His Majesty the late King-Father, Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk, in order to encourage reforestation and forest conservation and to inspire people to love and protect forests and natural environment, he said.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen took the opportunity to thank all relevant ministries and institutions, authorities at all levels, associations, national and international organisations, donors and development partners as well as his compatriots for their contribution to preserving, protecting and planting more trees throughout the country.

This year's Arbour Day celebration was held on July 9 in Sre Treng village, Kbal Damrey commune, Sambor district, Kratie province.
