Cambodian PM Calls on All Companies to Support Sports Sector

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen appealed here this morning to all the private companies, especially breweries, to contribute to supporting the sports sector as the country has been promoting it in preparation for the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) 2023.

The Cambodian premier made the appeal while he presided over the inauguration ceremony of Cambodia Brewery Limited Major Expansion Project, located in Robos Angkagn village, Sangkat Prek Eng, Khan Chbar Ampov, Phnom Penh.

Cambodia is scheduled to host the 32nd SEA Games from Dec. 1 to 15, 2023. This regional competition will take place in Phnom Penh capital city and in some provinces including Kampot, Kep, Takeo, Siem Reap, Battambang and Kampong Cham.

The two-week-long event is expected to attract about 10,000 delegates, of them 7,000 are athletes.

The draft master plan toward hosting the 32nd SEA Games in 2023 was approved by the cabinet meeting in April last year.

The Kingdom is committed to win at least 30 percent or one third of the total gold medals of 300 at this regional sports event.
