Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has reaffirmed the necessity of peace, stressing that it has brought about joyfulness to the whole country.
The country is in peace, therefore celebrations of festivals – 66th Anniversary of National Independence Day on Nov. 9, Ambok-eating day and the ongoing Water Festival – have been conducted smoothly, giving joys to all the people across the nation, underlined the Prime Minister in a Facebook post this afternoon.
“Today is the second day of the Water Festival. Dear all citizens and international tourists, please enjoy the celebration and learn more about the culture, tradition and custom of Cambodia,” he added.
The Premier also mentioned about the attractive decorations at the riverside, particularly in front of the Royal Palace, where boat races take place, and at the commercial stands.
Security forces and health staff have been being deployed at different locations for emergency response.
Tonight, there will be “Sampeas Preah Khe” – Moon Festival – and “Ok Ambok” – a type of glutinous rice roasted and crushed with pestle eaten with banana or coconut juice – which are part of the Water Festival.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister asked competent authorities at all levels to continue paying high attention to ensuring security and order so that citizens and tourists can enjoy their Water Festival holiday, both in Phnom Penh and in provinces.
