Cambodian PM Receives AIMF Delegation

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received here this morning at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh a visiting delegation of the International Association of Francophone Mayors (AIMF) led by its Permanent Secretary Mr. Pierre Baillet.

According to H.E. Sry Thammrong, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed warm welcome to the visit of the AIMF delegation in Cambodia.

The Cambodian Premier expressed his pride with the fact that Cambodia is a member of the International Organisation of La Francophonie, stressing that even though most of the French-speaking countries are poor, all share a community spirit. Cambodia has just ended the civil war, but has now dispatched its peacekeeping forces to some French speaking countries, which is a kind of cooperation among the French-speaking nations, he added.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also informed his guests of Phnom Penh capital city, including its progress and challenges, as well as the current situation of French language in Cambodia.

For his part, Mr. Pierre Baillet informed Samdech Techo Hun Sen of his visit, saying that its purpose is to prepare for the annual meeting of AIMF 2019 Congress to be held in early December in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap province. This will be a good opportunity to show off the success in carrying out AIMF-funded projects in Cambodia, especially in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, he underlined.
