Cambodian PM Receives Courtesy Visit from Japanese Ambassador

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received H.E. Mikami Masahiro, Ambassador of Japan, at his residence in Takhmao town, Kandal province this morning.

According to H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Prime Minister, in the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his gratitude to the Japanese government and people for their assistance to Cambodia in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also welcomed Japan’s invitation to Lt. Gen. Hun Manet, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, to pay a visit in Japan and the upcoming docking of Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force ship in Cambodia.

For the 30th anniversary of PKO (Peacekeeping Operations) in 2022, the Cambodian Premier suggested to hold activities to commemorate the event so as to strengthen and expand the cooperation between the two countries in the field of national defence.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed Japan’s support for Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS) to become a major port, and encouraged both countries’ relevant institutions to work together.

Japanese Ambassador H.E. Mikami Masahiro said for regional cooperation, especially in the ASEAN-Japan framework, Japan has provided some vehicles and materials to the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and will provide cooperation and support for the success of Cambodia’s ASEAN chairmanship.
