Cambodian PM Receives President of Global Green Growth Institute

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen met with H.E. Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary-General of the United Nations and current President of Global Green Growth Institute, on the sidelines of the World Summit 2022 under the theme “Toward Peace on the Korean Peninsula” in Seoul, the Republic of Korea this morning.
The meeting focused mainly on the key role of the Universal Peace Foundation (UPF) and the ongoing Myanmar issue, according to H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister.
Both sides expressed their delight to meet each other once again and to co-chair the World Summit 2022, and spoke highly of the crucial role of UPF.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen said with the capacity of gathering world leaders, both current and former, UPF should tighten key mechanisms with focus on peacebuilding on the Korean Peninsula. “We shall continue to work together to strengthen the UPF so that the foundation plays a more significant role in peacebuilding on the Korean Peninsula,” he underlined.
On the Myanmar issue, H.E. Ban Ki-moon voiced his support for the role played by ASEAN, especially the unity and solidarity of ASEAN, for Cambodia’s chairmanship of ASEAN this year, and for the Cambodian Premier’s recent visit to Myanmar.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed H.E. Ban Ki-moon’s intention to work with H.E. Prak Sokhonn, the Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair on Myanmar, and shared the same idea that ASEAN and UN can cooperate to help Myanmar.
