Cambodian PM Sends Condolence Message over Passing of Former Chinese President

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has sent a message to H.E. Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council People’s Republic of China, expressing his sincere condolences over the passing of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin on Nov. 30 at the age of 96.
“The demise of the former President Jiang Zemin is an immense loss of an outstanding statesman of China who devoted his entire life to the betterment of the lives of the Chinese people and China’s prosperity,” he wrote in the condolence message dated Dec. 1.
During his presidency, the Cambodian Premier continued, China enjoyed rapid economic growth, regained sovereignty over Hong Kong, won the bid to host the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and officially joined the World Trade Organisation. His extraordinary leadership not only inspired the Chinese people, but also gained international respect.
Former President Jiang Zemin is also a great friend of Cambodia, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said, adding that his state visit to Cambodia in 2000 was of historical significance in promoting Cambodia-China relations and cooperation.
“On behalf of the Royal Government and People of Cambodia, I would like to convey my deepest condolences, through Your Excellency, to the former President Jiang Zemin’s family, Chinese government and people during this moment of deep sorrow. I strongly believe that His Excellency Jiang Zemin’s legacy will always be remembered and cherished,” he concluded.
