Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has expressed thanks to the French court for rendering him justice against the self-imposed exile politician Sam Rainsy over the case of defamation behind the death of H.E. Hok Lundy, former National Police Commissioner.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of 2,115 students of Phnom Penh International University (PPIU) here this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said he will not proceed with an appeal, but if Sam Rainsy wants, he can accompany him to the end.
“I was satisfied with the interpretation that I was not involved in the allegations. […] But in case you (Sam Rainsy) appeal, I will continue to play with you to the end,” he said.
On Oct. 10, 2022, a French court ruled that Samdech Techo Hun Sen was not behind the death of H.E. Hok Lundy as alleged by Sam Rainsy, Mr. Ky Tech, Samdech Techo ‘s lawyer, confirmed in a video.
Mr. Ky Tech said that in the courtroom the judge gave reasons and perceptions that Sam Rainsy’s accusation against Samdech Techo Hun Sen related to the helicopter crash that killed H.E. Hok Lundy had no clear evidence and could not consider that Samdech Techo was involved in the incident or behind the incident.
“The judge also states that Sam Rainsy’s support documents are so vague and confusing that the court cannot accept as a valid reason,” he said. “The court also gave another reason to confirm that Sam Rainsy did indeed defame Samdech Techo, which cannot be denied.”
In August 2019, Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Deputy Police Chief Lt. Gen. Dy Vichea, a son of late H.e. Hok Lundy, through the lawyers of the Royal Government and French lawyers, filed two separate official lawsuits against Sam Rainsy for “public defamation” to the Court of Paris.
