Cambodian PM Thanks Japan for Support to Mine Clearance Operation

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has thanked profoundly the Japanese people and government for their support to the mine clearance activities in Cambodia.

According to a message posted on his official Facebook page yesterday, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his gratitude to the people and Government of Japan for having paid attention to Cambodia's reconstruction and development, especially to the mine clearance operation in Cambodia.

This message was released after the Government of Japan provided technical demining equipment and materials (Phase VII) worth in total more than US$11 million for the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) and after the CMAC Peace Museum of Mine Action was inaugurated in Siem Reap province on July 6.

Cambodia is now seeking more funds to clear all landmines scattered in the country since 1970s. Currently, Japan is one of the biggest donors for mine clearance activities in Cambodia.
