Cambodian PM To Attend the 30th ASEAN Summit in the Philippines

Cambodia's Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen will lead a delegation to attend the 30th ASEAN Summit in the Philippines, at the invitation of H.E. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, President of the Republic of the Philippines.

The event will be held in Manila this Saturday under the theme Partnering for Change, Engaging the World, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation's press release AKP received this afternoon.

The premier will be accompanied by H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; H.E. Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports; H.E. Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce; and other members of the royal government, it pointed out.

In the framework of the 30th ASEAN Summit, Samdech Techo Hun Sen will also attend the ASEAN Leaders' Interface with Representatives of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and ASEAN Leaders' Interface with Representatives of Youth, it added.

According to the press release, as ASEAN is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year, at the 30th ASEAN Summit, the ASEAN Leaders will discuss and exchange views on critical issues which ASEAN and the world are facing to further promote peace, security, and prosperity for the region and the world. Prioritising ASEAN's efforts in shaping regional architecture is on ASEAN's Agenda while, at the same time, ASEAN Leaders will also stress on the emerging issues of uncertain political and economic situation.

In preparation for the 30th ASEAN Summit, H.E. Prak Sokhonn will attend the ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting, 15th ASEAN Political Security Community Council Meeting and the 19th ASEAN Coordinating Council Meeting, which will be held prior to the Summit, it added.

As a successful regional organisation, ASEAN's roles and responsibilities have continued to grow over matters outside ASEAN region. Situation in the Middle East and in the Korean Peninsula as well as in the world including the health of world economy have been ASEAN's utmost concern.

At the end of the Summit, a Chairman's statement will be issued and a number of documents are expected to be signed/adopted and noted.
