Cambodian PM to Attend UPF 2022 World Summit in February

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has accepted the Universal Peace Federation (UPF)’s invitation to physically attend the UPF 2022 World Summit to be held on Feb. 12-13 in Seoul, the Republic of Korea.
The invitation was extended to Samdech Techo Hun Sen, also Co-Chairman of the UPF 2022 World Summit Organising Commission, by Dr. Yun Young-ho, Director General of UPF, during an online meeting with the Cambodian Premier this morning, according to H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister.
Dr. Yun Young-ho told Samdech Techo Hun Sen that H.E. Ban Ki-moon, former UN Secretary-General will also join the upcoming summit as Co-Chairman of the Organising Commission.
The meeting will be attended by many world leaders, both incumbent and former leaders, as well as some 3,500 media institutions, he said, adding that about 200,000 people around the world will participate in the summit virtually.
There will also be the conferment ceremony of UPF’s Sunhak Peace Prize during the 2022 World Summit on Peace on the Korean Peninsula, he pointed out.
Besides, Dr. Yun Young-ho congratulated Samdech Techo Prime Minister on being the ASEAN Chair in 2022 and welcomed his recent working visit to Myanmar considering that it is a “peace visit”. He further expressed his support for Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s peace vision.
For his part, the Cambodian Prime Minister laid stress on the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific and mentioned about three principles to be strengthened: 1. within the Indo-Pacific framework, there must be a goal to support peace and development; 2. not to be against any group or country; and 3. support the ASEAN Centrality and the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific.
The meeting also touched on the creation of Mekong Peace Park in Cambodia, a key initiative of Samdech Techo Hun Sen for a peaceful Mekong region.
