Cambodian PM to Talk with Myanmar Leader Tomorrow

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, will hold talks with H.E. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Administration Council of Myanmar tomorrow, H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister told the media.
According to H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Samdech Techo Hun Sen raised this plan during his discussion with his Malaysian counterpart H.E. Ismail Sabri Yaakob via a videoconference from his residence in Takhmao town, Kandal province this morning.
The Cambodian Premier informed H.E. Ismail Sabri Yaakob that he will have a virtual talk with H.E. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing tomorrow to find out about the issues that are evolving in Myanmar, adding that the situation in Myanmar is very complicated because the country has two governments, including a shadow government.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen told his Malaysian counterpart that he will invite H.E. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to attend the ASEAN Summit if there is progress on the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus, but if no Myanmar should prepare to send non-political representative to the summit.
For his part, H.E. Ismail Sabri Yaakob voiced his support for Cambodia’s effort in the Myanmar crisis and for the nomination of H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation as the Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair.
The Malaysian Prime Minister also expressed his appreciation to the current bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and Malaysia and accepted the invitation to pay an official visit to Cambodia before the ASEAN Summit to be held in Phnom Penh to deepen and boost the relationship between both nations as this year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties.
