Cambodian PM Urges for Quality Strengthening in Higher Education Institutions

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen urged here this morning the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and all higher education institutions to strengthen the education quality.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of 623 students of the University of Puthisastra, Samdech Techo Hun Sen reaffirmed the Royal Government of Cambodia’s support for all private and public higher education and vocational training institutions, but advised them to pay attention to the quality.

“If we have many universities which train students to have only certificates, but no capabilities to work, they will find no job. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the quality,” he underlined.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also encouraged the youths to apply for vocational training as technical skills are highly needed in the country’s job market.

Cambodia currently has a total of 18,430 public and private schools, ranging from kindergartens to high schools, with 3.58 million students, stated the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, adding that there are also 130 higher education institutions, 48 of them are state-run.
