Cambodian Top Diplomat Receives Swiss Ambassador

Cambodia’s Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn received here on Wednesday H.E. Ivo Sieber, Ambassador of Switzerland to Cambodia.

H.E. Prak Sokhonn spoke highly of the diplomatic relation between Cambodia and Switzerland, established in 1963, and exchanged views on the preparation of a consultation meeting between the two foreign ministries and the upcoming signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding on the consultation meeting, as well as the strengthening of both nations’ cooperation in the fields of trade, tourism and economy.

H.E. Senior Minister expressed his gratitude to the Swiss government for its assistance to Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospitals and requested the Swiss side to continue its support to the hospitals.

H.E. Prak Sokhonn also thanked Switzerland for her support to Cambodia’s candidacy as a member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council for 2017-2019 to be elected this year.

For his part, the Swiss ambassador affirmed his government’s continued assistance to Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospitals and pledged to convince more investors and tourists to Cambodia.

For mine clearance operations, H.E. Ivo Sieber promised to submit to his government Cambodia’s proposition for Switzerland’s support, and welcomed the establishment of the Phnom Penh-based ASEAN Regional Mine Action Centre (ARMAC).
