Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam – Cambodian Vovinam athlete Ms. Pal Chhor Raskmey is preparing to compete in five disciplines at the upcoming 7th World Vovinam Championship, scheduled to take place in Vietnam from November 23 to December 2, 2023. Ms. Pal Chhor Raskmey is currently in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam, undergoing intensive training in anticipation of the tournament.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, President of the Cambodian Vovinam Federation (CVF), Cambodia is sending a strong delegation to the championship, comprising 37 sports delegates, coaches, and athletes. The team’s preparation includes a two-week training period in Vietnam, designed to optimize their performance at the international sports event.
Ms. Pal Chhor Raskmey will participate in a range of disciplines, including women single-knife, a man-woman self-defence, a 3 men-women group, 6 women-basic fighting, and one-woman vs three men armed fighting. Her participation comes after a successful stint at the SEA Games 2023 in Cambodia, where she won a total of six medals, including four gold, one silver, and one bronze.
Cambodia has a history of success in the World Vovinam Championship. At the 6th edition of the event held in Cambodia in 2019, the country secured 31 medals, including 9 gold, 10 silver, and 11 bronze, ranking second among athletes from 20 participating countries.
The upcoming competition represents a significant opportunity for Ms. Pal Chhor Raskmey and her teammates to showcase their skills on the international stage and add to Cambodia’s growing reputation in the world of Vovinam.
