The Ministry of Planning will conduct the Agriculture Census of Cambodia 2023 throughout the country from April 1 to 30.
The information was shared in a meeting here on Feb. 15 chaired by H.E. Dr. Chhay Than, Senior Minister and Minister of Planning, and Chairman of the National Committee for Agriculture Census of Cambodia 2023.
H.E. Dr. Chhay Than underlined that the result of the census is crucial for the development of policies on agriculture, economy, environment, society, climate change and people’s welfare.
It will also serve as key indicators to monitor and assess the government’s economic development policy, the national development strategic plan, poverty elimination strategy, and Cambodia’s sustainable development goals (SDGs) 2016-2030.
It will be the second census of its kind and the first one was conducted in 2013 through the technical support from the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and the financial support from the Royal Government of Cambodia.
Cambodian population was estimated at over 17 million or 3.9 million households in 2023 and 2.7 million of the households are farmers, said the senior minister.
He called on competent officials to prepare well to roll out the census to collect the accurate and most updated agricultural data for a well represented and useful result.
