Cambodia’s Exports in First Five Months Up 34.5%

AKP Phnom Penh–Cambodia has exported over US$9.4 billion worth of products to foreign markets in the first five months of this year, an increase by 34.5 percent compared to the same period last year, pointed out the preliminary data of the General Department of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The U.S. topped the list as the biggest market for Cambodian products, accounting for 39.6 percent of the total Cambodian exports during the January-May period. The total exports to the U.S. were valued at US$3.7 billion, a year-on-year increase of 57.7 percent.

The second largest importer of Cambodian products is the neighbouring Vietnam, followed by China with more than US$1,000 million and some US$520 million export volume, respectively.

Cambodia mainly exported footwear and other apparel, travel goods, beverages, electrical and electronic appliances, rubber, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural products.
