Cambodia’s Garment and Footwear Workers Wage Policy Impresses Other Countries

Cambodia has been approached by Bangladesh and Myanmar for the procedure and coordination regarding wage policy for garment and footwear workers, according to local media report.

The attraction thanks to tremendous efforts jointly made by the Royal Government of Cambodia, development partners, employers and employees was made known during a recent workshop on the wage policy organised here in Phnom Penh.

Minister of Labour and Vocational Training H.E. Ith Samheng who presided over the gathering underlined that Cambodian garment and footwear workers are receiving minimum wages higher than those in other countries, like Bangladesh, India, Laos, Myanmar and Sri Lanka.

Royal Government of Cambodia as well as concerned stakeholders are pleased to share the good lessons and coordination experience with the counterparts from Bangladesh and Myanmar.
