Cambodia’s Milled Rice Export Increases by 3% in First Quarter

Cambodia exported some 166,678 tons of milled rice to international markets during the first three months of this year, a 3 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

China is the biggest market for Cambodia's milled rice followed by France by buying 67,482 tons and 21,000 tons, respectively, according to a report of the Secretariat of One Window Service for Rice Export Formality.

In March alone, Cambodia's milled rice export decreased by 16 percent over the same period of the previous year, while in January and February an increase of milled rice export by 10 percent and 17 percent, respectively, were recorded, it pointed out.

By the end of 2016, Cambodia shipped more than 540,000 tons of milled rice out to 65 countries around the world, up 0.7 percent over a year earlier.
