Cambodia’s Milled Rice Export Soars 7.6 Percent in First Half 2017

Cambodia has exported some 288,562 tons of milled rice to foreign markets in the first semester of this year, up 7.6 percent compared to the same period last year, according to a report released by the Secretariat of One Window Service for Rice Export Formality.

China is the biggest market for Cambodian rice by importing 94,720 tons during the January-June period, a 100 percent increase compared to the same period a year earlier, while France and Poland imported 37,321 tons and 25,639 tons, respectively, it added.

In total, Cambodia exported milled rice to 56 countries in this period, it pointed out.

Last year, the milled rice shipping to China was 127,460 tons, a 9 percent year-on-year increase.

The Chinese government has recently increased the quota of milled rice amount to 300,000 tons in 2018, from 200,000 tons in 2017, and 100,000 tons in 2016.
